music + sound for screen + stage Work samples
MATERIAL INTERSECTIONS
EXCERPT 01: In the first half of the excerpt (all of which was rendered visually using 3D animation), the camera operates from a single raindrop's POV, falling on a roof and dripping on to the ground in an area where a thunderstorm gathers. Later, the video portrays the area around a swimming pool. Both instances demonstrate "solid poetry", a technique wherein the application of water to a stone surface reveals hidden designs. Music composition and sound design are tightly integrated, cutting accents to match impacts and adding suspense with sonic lead-ins to events. The visuals of the thunderstorm and swimming pool scene change very slowly, so it was my job to up the dynamic element of the clip using thunder, rain, music, and an active soundscape of little kids splashing around. video excerpt
EXCERPT 02: This offshoot project shows off the three dimensional design of a tennis shoe, contriving an 80s retro fantasy world where tennis shoes explode and reconstitute as of pulses of light zoom along neon grids in the background. video excerpt
EXCERPT 03: This episode examines "the convergences of different worlds: manufactured and handcrafted, virtual and physical, abstraction and representation." I'm including an except of it here to showcase some nicely tailored music and the integration of various sonic elements. video excerpt
