RECENT LISTENING: JOHN PORRAS, SOUNDTRACKS, PODCASTS
For the longest time I resisted Spotify, unhappy with the pittance they pay artists. I was finally swayed by somebody's tweet thread (don't remember whose-- apologies) pointing out that one's avoidance of Spotify can easily lead to looking up a song on, say, YouTube, which likely leads an upload by someone who isn't even compensating the artists at all... so, fair enough. Or, rather, not fair at all... the degree to which the music business continues to hack away at the earnings of its content creators irks me. But I'd rather support artists a little than not at all.
In lighter news, my listening since joining the 'fy has been on the droney and shambolic tip... so much so that the site's algorithm has begun recommending that I check out playlists like "Grab some z's" and "Podcasts to fall asleep to". They must think I'm a super dynamic dude.
