ORIGINAL MUSIC FOR "DREAM COUNTY": EXQUISITE EUPHONIUM PERFORMANCE

October 21, 2018  /  Mike Hallenbeck

Most of my music and sound these days is synched with something on some screen or other, but every once in a while I’m tempted back into theater work like a retired gunfighter called in to take out one last man. Sam Landman’s original play “Dream County” opens this coming Thursday at the Twin Cities Horror Festival. Thanks to Kevin’s generous loan of his euphonium, I was able to capture the refined, graceful tone of the show for a fanfare cue. I’d also like to mention that I’m available for session work, if you think you can afford me. More info on “Dream County”: http://www.tchorrorfestival.com/dream-county.htm

“Some people recall watching Cousin Clem's Magical Couch Fort every Saturday morning as kids. Others have never seen an episode, claiming the tragic series finale is nothing but urban myth. Somewhere between real and imaginary lies Dream County, a whimsical world where Cousin Clem would hide away in. We present the finale as it supposedly happened.”

MUSIC FOR FILM: "AFTER THE GUNFLINT"

October 17, 2018  /  Mike Hallenbeck

One of the new pieces of original music I’ve been developing for After the Gunflint, a wilderness survival film directed by JD O'Brien. The creative brief: “deconstructed bluegrass”. It’ll probably be deconstructed a lot further from this point, but we like where it’s going so far.

PAISLEY PARK!

October 14, 2018  /  Mike Hallenbeck

I was never cool enough to come out here when Prince did the live shows, but it was great to tour Paisley Park yesterday. No photos were allowed inside, and unfortunately we only got to go into the studios’ live rooms and not the control rooms, but that’s understandable I guess. And we got to see his Linn drum machine, and play some ping pong in Studio B. Kind of emotional at times, thinking about Prince and all the great music he gave us. Glad I took the time.
