DIALOG EDIT + MIX: AUGSBURG COLLEGE SESQUICENTENNIAL

Junior Birdman Audio was pleased to provide dialog edit and mix for a video celebrating Augsburg College’s Sesquicentennial (150 years!). Walk the Moon Media shot poet and spoken word artist Donte Collins, a 2018 Augsburg graduate, performing multiple takes of the same poem in several different locations with varying acoustics, indoors and outdoors. The crucial question was whether all the dialog was usable, or if we’d need to ADR some of it. I managed to salvage all the audio takes to everyone’s satisfaction, and I even played around with location specificity a bit-- pushing the different acoustic properties of different spaces slightly, while maintaining a constant thread of verbiage that the audience could follow. A challenging but super fun project— and the finished product premiered to a standing ovation of Augsburg alumni during their 150th gala, I’m told.

MUSIC EDIT: DC GROUP HOLIDAY GREETING

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I got to do a teeny music edit on this wintry greeting from The DC Group, commemorating the company’s support of the Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery Fund.

As often happens, my job was to make it sound like no work had been done at all. The fade-out of the music was originally a transition into another part, and the extant fadeout didn’t seem to resolve in a satisfying way. I lengthened the final chord, eventually bringing in a piano note from a virtual instument library to add a bit of helft to the resolution.
